Grand Canyon

We went camping at the Grand Canyon last weekend and it was a blast. Max had a lot of fun playing in the dirt...IMG_4831 IMG_4832 and practicing his walking skills… yes I said WALKING!

IMG_4833 IMG_4834 IMG_4835 IMG_4836 IMG_4837 Daddy built a fire for and we had oatmeal and donuts for breakfast. IMG_4840 IMG_4841 IMG_4842 Max enjoyed climbing the trees and flying in the air.IMG_4843 IMG_4844 IMG_4846 The Canyon was beautiful!IMG_4847 IMG_4848 IMG_4849 IMG_4852 IMG_4853 Max had his own seat on the bus.IMG_4854 IMG_4857 IMG_4858 IMG_4859 IMG_4861 Mommy thought it would be cool to climb out on this rock so Daddy could take a picture.IMG_4862 IMG_4863 IMG_4864 IMG_4865 IMG_4870 IMG_4871 IMG_4872 IMG_4873 IMG_4874 IMG_4875 IMG_4877 - Copy IMG_4886 IMG_4891 At night we had smores and hot chocolate. IMG_4926 IMG_4927 IMG_4928 IMG_4931 IMG_4933 The ride home was kind of boring but we entertained ourselves by taking a bunch of pictures.IMG_4939 IMG_4943 IMG_4945 IMG_4948 IMG_4949 IMG_4950 IMG_4952

Max’s Birthday in San Diego

We went to San Diego to celebrate Max’s birthday with our family. We spent the day at the beach where we sang happy birthday to Max and he opened his presents. Grandma and Grandpa made some delicious food for everyone! He had a cupcakes this time but was really tired when he was eating it. He got so many cool presents! He loves them all.  He also got to play in the water and at the park. He loved the swings so much!

Then later, Grandmother HAD to take him to Chucky Cheese.  He didn’t like the rides too much but he did like ski ball. It was a fun weekend!

Max’s 1st Birthday-Day!

We had a little last minute get-together on Max’s actual birthday with some close buddies. Max had fun. He LOVED his cake! He ate that whole thing! He also got some really cool presents (even though we said not to worry about presents!) Abe and Loni gave him a cool guitar and he got an awesome book from the Thorsons! So sweet! We love our friends! :)

Happy Birthday to our Little Angel!

BIRTHDAY BOY!!!

IMG_4700

Max, I can’t believe you are a year old today. It seems like it was just recently that I held you in my arms for the first time. I remember when we brought you home from the hospital; you and I were in your room by ourselves and I was rocking and nursing you. It was then that I realized how much I love you and what an amazing blessing you are to me. I cried and cried as stared at you and your perfect little body and felt your perfect little spirit.

I just can’t believe that all it took was 9 months for you to come. I would go through those 9 months 50 more times if it meant having you as my son. Your daddy and I must have done something right to have been blessed with a perfect angel in our lives.

You really are perfect, Maximilian.

I wish I could protect you from all the evil and hurt in this world. I wish I could catch you before you fall, hold you every time you’re sad, tuck you in every night, and keep you away from anyone that would ever hurt you for the rest of your life. I know that this isn’t how life works so I’m going to do my best to raise you to be strong, faithful, patient, and kind. I’m going to do my best to raise you so that you will make choices that will enable you to reach your highest potentials.

You are my baby. Thank you for loving us and bringing us so much happiness.

Love, Mommy

Max 033

Max, you are so rad but stop growing up so fast. Please stay little forever so I can carry you around. If you grow too big then you won’t be able to curl up in the crook of my arm and fall asleep. I love how happy and smart you are. Remember to always give mommy and daddy besitos when we ask for them. If you do then you can keep having fun playing and laughing and getting into the cupboards. Finally, don’t think just because you are 1 you can do whatever you want. I love you so much. Love, Daddy.

Watson Lake

We had a busy Saturday working on school assignments and doing stuff around the house. We finished almost everything and decided to take a break and go relax at Watson Lake in Prescott. It was really fun walking around the rocks and enjoying the view. Max loved throwing rocks into the water (or trying to at least). It’s so nice when we can just pick up and leave at the spur of the moment. We’ve just been sooo busy with school and work that we don’t have much time together as a family. Saturday was really nice. We will definitely be going back sometime. Velasco Reunion

Last weekend we were able to go to our family reunion. It was really nice seeing everyone. I wish I had more pictures, but I didn’t take my camera. I only had my phone. Max enjoyed spending time with grandpa.

We moved!

…. about two hundred feet away. Soin moved out on her own :( (we really are happy for you Soin!) so we down sized back to a 2 bedroom. This is how we moved most of our stuff… yes, it’s embarrassing but it was really effective. Mike found a basket on the side of the road and we figured we would do Costco a favor by taking their basket back to their store… after we used it to move of course.

I think I would have rather loaded everything onto a truck and then unloaded it. It was a hassle walking back forth from one apartment to the other and loading and unloading about 50 times. It was exhausting, especially doing it in this heat. It's done and over now!! Thank goodness. Hopefully the next time we will be moving, it will be back to California.

Moving basket

Bath Time!!!

Isn’t this adorable?

I came out from my cave of school work for a break and found my boys napping together. I would have grabbed Max right away, since as you can see, he was right at the end of the couch, but instead I put down pillows just in case he fell. He was just too cute to move!!!

He did end up rolling off but only to land on a soft bed of pillows. He sat up for a second, and then laid down and went back to sleep. So silly!

More Deals

The first two pictures are some more freebies that I have come across in the past couple of weeks… The first group is from CVS and the second is from Kmart.

IMG_4557IMG_4590

Honey Bunches of Oats is my favorite cereal so we stocked up when I found this great deal of .48 per box at Fry’s. Fry’s is our local grocery store (for those of you from Cali)

I love couponing. It's definitely one of the best things I've ever learned to do. Even if I become wealthy, I think I will still use coupons. I just don't like the thought of paying full price for things anymore... :P

By the way, if anyone wants to know how I got these deals, just let me know and next time I will post how.

Monster Jam

I’m slacking! Sorry Liz...

Anyway, I think I mentioned in a previous post that I got Mike Monster Jam tickets for our anniversary (which didn’t even compare to everything he did for me). We went and it was so fun! I had never been before and honestly, I was thinking that I wasn’t going to be that into it, but it was really exciting and such a blast. Mike really enjoyed it too. I love going on dates with him! Our favorite was Grave Digger!

I Don't Live in a Mansion.

Mike and I are awake at about 2am... probably not a good idea, being that Max will probably be up in four hours... ah well.

I had to finish an assignment for class and then we looked online at tons of $15,000,000 and $50,000,000 homes in Rancho Santa Fe. It was fun seeing all of these ridiculously gorgeous houses and their acres of land, gigantic pools with fountains, and bathrooms that are bigger than our apartment.

Surprisingly, it got me thinking about how much I love my life in our little apartment with our community pool and our bathroom barely big enough for the two of us. Don't get me wrong, I look forward to the day when we can have our own home, but all I ever really dreamed of was being a wife to a loving, righteous husband, and a stay-at-home mother to my children. This is what I wanted to be when I grew up. Now I'm grown up and I have it all.

A $50,000,000 home on the beach doesn't compare to what I have. I have an amazing man to call my own; a man who charishes me and loves me for who I am, a man who everyday strives to provide our family with a good life because he loves us, a virtuous man who is a wonderful example to me and so many other people. I have a beautiful son; a piece of my heart and soul, a pure spirit who helps me strive to be a better person, a boy who loves me unconditionally, an angel with eyes that tell me everyday that he loves me.

What a dream come true it has been... life is wonderful.

I haven't even mentioned all of the materials things that I am blessed with... no, I don't live in a multi-million dollar home but I have things that most of the world's population only dream of having; a roof over my head, good food to eat, a car to drive whenever I want, a cell phone, a computer, a refrigerator, disposable diapers for my baby, and the list goes on and on and on.

One day my dream-come-true life will move into a house to call our own. Where and when that may be doesn't really matter as long as we're together.
